Brainstorm

After comparing videos and identifiying my target audience, i feel its time i should start brainstorming ideas and start to think about what i'd like to include in my Arctic Monkey video.

Firstly i'd like to include different depth of field's in my shots, i have learnt alot about different focal lengths. A narrow depth of field will lead small areas around the shot frame blurry or out of focus and lead focus to one thing, in contrast a wide depth of field shot shows everything thats going on. I will use a wide depth of field with an establishing shot from high up and zoom into the band, hopefully this attract peoples attention and understand the location.

After looking at videos like Razorlights - The Golden Touch i have noticed how they make full use of the light available. My video is partly being shot on a beach so a lot of it is natural light i can use things like reflectors to get good light angles and show expressions and representations. The other half i will have to use lamps and artificial light, the more light i use the brighter it will look and give a happier sense of feeling.

Small ideas that i'd like to include intertwine with the lyrics of the song. For example it sings "He picks her up at the school gates" here i can literally show the 'bigger boy' picking up a girl at some school gates during mid day. Even though it seems like a very simplistic idea i think using props like this to show understanding will work well.

I will need to decide what time of day i will start filming because certain times of the day represent certain things. Night time might be bad or sinister things or it could mean times to party or go on a night out. Morning when its misty on the hills or when there is dew about on trees and school children going to school might represent a new begging or honesty. My video is upbeat so during mid day where there is full sun exposure and lots of things going on in the background that i could use would be best for my music video.

I have a large choice of friends and actors that i could use to perform the song. I need chose to the right people that give off the right representation and tick all the boxes. The bands clothing is important too what will i dress them in, what economic status does it flaunt and what the colours represent. I know my target audience now and i know what the Arctic Monkeys have worn in previous videos its important that i build upon this to show continuity.
